Wonderland Tea Wagon Joins the Listening Spaces Network
The Listening Spaces Network is delighted to welcome Wonderland Tea Wagon, Mulroy Drive Viewpoint, to its growing community of businesses committed to supporting local music, culture, and community connection.
Owned by Shauna McCafferty from Ballycastle, Co. Antrim, Wonderland Tea Wagon is rooted in a lifelong connection to Donegal. Although raised on Northern Ireland's North Coast, Shauna's family ties to Donegal run deep. Her grandfather was from the county, and throughout her childhood, summers were spent in Rathmullan and Kerrykeel alongside an extended family of McCaffertys.
Those summers created memories that continue to inspire her today. Around fifty family members would gather together, staying in a converted bus lovingly transformed by an uncle into a holiday home with bunk beds and a small kitchen. Without televisions, mobile phones, or digital distractions, days were filled with card games, board games, storytelling, conversation, and listening to the radio. It was a simpler time, built around family, connection, and community.
Those experiences helped shape Shauna's vision for Wonderland Tea Wagon.
For more than a decade, she dreamed of owning her own tea and coffee wagon. While life's responsibilities delayed those plans, the dream never disappeared. Today, that vision has become a reality at the spectacular Mulroy Drive Viewpoint, where visitors can enjoy quality refreshments while taking in one of Donegal's most breathtaking landscapes.
Wonderland Tea Wagon is built on a commitment to supporting local people and local enterprise. Shauna is passionate about sourcing quality products from independent suppliers and small producers wherever possible, helping to strengthen local relationships and contribute to the sustainability of rural communities.
Her values closely align with those of the Listening Spaces Network. Throughout her life, Shauna has been a strong supporter of local musicians, artists, storytellers, independent retailers, traditional music, and community initiatives. She believes that local culture, heritage, and creativity are among a community's greatest assets and deserve to be celebrated and supported.
As a Certified Listening Space, Wonderland Tea Wagon joins a network of businesses that intentionally showcase local music as part of the customer experience. By playing music created by local artists and songwriters, Listening Spaces help ensure that local voices are heard, local stories are shared, and local talent is discovered by new audiences.
The Listening Spaces Network was founded on the belief that music is more than background noise. Music reflects the identity, history, and creativity of a place. By choosing local music, businesses help strengthen cultural connections and create more authentic experiences for both residents and visitors.
Wonderland Tea Wagon embodies these values. It is a place where local produce, local music, local stories, and local people come together. Visitors are invited to pause, enjoy the stunning surroundings of Mulroy Drive, discover new music, and experience the warmth and hospitality that are at the heart of Donegal's communities.
The Listening Spaces Network congratulates Shauna McCafferty on bringing her long-held vision to life and thanks her for her commitment to supporting local artists, local businesses, and the cultural traditions that make this region so special.
By championing local creativity and community, Wonderland Tea Wagon is helping to ensure that the music, stories, and heritage of this place continue to thrive for generations to come.
