Breac House - a certified listening space
Breac House on Horn Head, Donegal, is the first hospitality space to be formally recognised as a Certified Listening Space by the Listening Spaces Network.
Breac House has always placed care and intention at the centre of the guest experience. Long before this certification existed, the house was already quietly doing something powerful — playing music made locally within its shared living and library spaces, allowing guests to hear the sounds of the place they are visiting.
Through the Listening Spaces Network, this thoughtful practice is now formally recognised.
Why Breac House Matters
When visitors stay at Breac House, they are not only experiencing the landscape of Donegal — they are also hearing the music created within it.
The playlists shared throughout the house intentionally feature artists from the surrounding region, offering a deeper, more authentic connection to place.
It is a simple gesture that carries real meaning:
Local music is heard and valued
Guests discover artists from the area
The cultural identity of place is strengthened
The First Certified Listening Space
Breac House becomes the first certified Listening Space in the network, setting a standard for how hospitality spaces can support local music through everyday listening.
The certification does not change what Breac House was already doing — it simply recognises and celebrates it.
By intentionally playing music made locally, Breac House helps ensure that the sound of Donegal remains part of the experience of being there.
